Partners in Grain (PinG) Vic/Tas a national project funded by Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) has entered its third stage. The PinG project focuses on communication and capacity building,for farm businesses in the grains industry. The project operates independently in each state, with a part time coordinator.
The aims of Partners in Grain are to:-
- develop a nationally coordinated strategic approach to enhance the active involvement of women & young participants in the grains industry by increasing their technical knowledge & skills
provide a supportive community based environment working towards reducing real and perceived barriers to participation
enable greater and more confident participation of women and young people in performance benchmarking, financial management and information programs.
The Vic/Tas PinG Reference Group ( Pam Heath - State Chair, Maureen Barry,
Penny Hendy, Merna Curnow, Eileen Jorgensen Althea Hunt, John Curtis, Rose Maher, Janine McIntyre, Robyn Coates & Eleonore Barr), along with Nickie Berrisford Coordinator, provide input and support to the project. To much mutual benefit, Vic/Tas PinG works closely with the Grains Industry Training Network (GITN) and the VFF Grains Group.
PinG has partnerships with industry bodies, ensuring delivery of relevant programs to benefit participants in the grains industry.
2010 - PinG has delivered 5 Office Meltdown Workshops, Kids Farm Safety Workshops so far this year. Please keep checking this site under the Up Coming Events Tab for information on what is happening in Victoria. If you are in Tasmania and would like to join the group or run a workshop to do with the Grains Industry please contact Nickie during business hours.
2009 - Workshops including Office Meltdown, Grain Storage and supporting Volunteers were held. PinG has also been involved in Kids Farm Safety, Header Driving Courses and working with the farmers in the Gippsland area.
